Creamed Steak with Mushroom

Ingredients:steak

  • 1 lb. sirloin, rib or tenderloin steak
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ¼ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled
  • ½ cup onion, minced
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 can (10 3/4 ounces) cream of chicken soup
  • ½ lb fresh mushroom, sliced

Procedure:

  1. Cut meat into ¼ inch strips.
  2. In plastic bag, combine flour, salt and pepper; add steak and shake to evenly coat meat.  Set aside.
  3. Melt butter in pan over medium heat.
  4. Sauté garlic until transparent; discard.
  5. Place meat strips in pan and sauté, turning often.
  6. Add onions and cook until lightly browned.
  7. Stir in water, soup and mushrooms.
  8.  Reduce heat to low; cook uncovered until meat is tender and mixture thickens.
